History of the Band

Formed in 1998 by rhythm guitarist Jason Hager, and vocalist Mark Hunter Chimaira was already becoming a known band, when they got Jason Genaro on drums and Andrew Ermlick on bass the line up was completed.

Later on Rob Arnold, whose current band called Sanctum had just split, joined the band soon after, and provided a better quality sound from guitars.
After only being together a year they released a demo (in January 1999), however the band werent happy with Genaro's drumming abilitly, so Rob suggested replacing Genaro with drummer Andols Herrick, who'd also been in the band Sanctum. This suggestion went down well and Jason was replaced only days later.

In 1999 Chimaira were also doing a lot of live shows around America. But before the end of the year there was another line up change; Andrew Ermlick (bassist) left the band to concentrate on college, and was replaced by Rob Lesniak. However he only lasted a year and in 2000 was replaced by current bassist Jim LaMarca.
Through the years there has been 12 people in the band, 6 of which are the one in Chimaira at the moment. Mark Hunter is the only original member.

Between 1998-2009 they have released 5 albums and 2 EP's
